Your Annual Touch-Up Journey

A thoughtful guide to timing, photos, and long-term brow care

At Bon Beauté, maintenance is not automatic — it’s intentional.
This page exists to help you understand when, why, and how we plan future work so your brows remain soft, refined, and beautiful for years to come.

First, a Gentle Reminder

Natural permanent makeup is designed to live under the skin, not sit on top like makeup.
Because of this, it will always appear softer and less vibrant than makeup — and that’s intentional.

Our approach favors longevity over immediacy.

Touch Up Checklist

  • Your brows were designed for longevity, not makeup-level saturation.

Because pigment lives beneath the skin, it is naturally filtered by skin tone and density.
For this reason, permanent makeup will always appear softer than makeup — by design.

Pushing density early limits flexibility later.
Restraint now preserves options over time.

  • Every client heals and retains pigment differently.

Skin type, lifestyle, daily rituals, sun exposure, and natural biology all influence fading.

Your next touch-up may be appropriate in 12 months, 16 months, or 24+.
There is no universal schedule — only what your skin is ready for.

  • Before scheduling any maintenance visit, we require recent photos of your healed brows.

    Photos allow us to:

    • Assess natural fading

    • Confirm skin readiness

    • Recommend the most thoughtful next step

This ensures care is guided by observation, not assumption.

  • For most touch-ups, we look for 40–50% natural fading.

Adding pigment too soon can compound layers, push older pigment deeper, and gradually muddy color over time — often appearing years later.

Waiting protects clarity, flexibility, and skin integrity.

Bright, natural lighting

  • One front view + one photo of each brow

  • Close enough to clearly see skin and pigment

Optional notes about faded areas or lifestyle changes are welcome.

Photo Guidelines

Sometimes the most professional recommendation is to wait.

After years of PMU, we may suggest pausing pigment or lightening old work through laser before continuing.
Laser removal is now a normal part of long-term PMU care — not a setback.

If There Hasn’t Been Enough Fading
